Meet Jill

Jill’s practice is focused on civil litigation, family law, corporate work with an emphasis on small businesses, probate and estate planning. Jill defends a wide variety of insureds from construction professionals, small businesses, large corporations, and individuals in complex civil litigation matters. Her civil litigation practice is focused on the defense of construction defect cased for general contractors, developers, design professionals and subcontractors. She also handles product defect, personal injury, and commercial litigation matters. She has been on successful trial teams securing favorable defense verdicts, and has an impressive track records of bringing complex matters to quick and economically efficient resolutions for the clients and their insurers.

Jill also represents men and women, moms and dads, and occasionally grandparents, in all areas of family law including divorce, custody, child support and post-decree matters. Her family law practice has expanded greatly over the years, and she has become a regular fixture in the Colorado Courts, trying a variety of family law matters from the original Permanent Orders to post-decree modifications and disputes involving parenting time, child support, maintenance and property division. Jill also does her own family law appellate work. Jill has had great success reaching favorable results for her clients, including many awards for attorneys’ fees in favor of her clients.

Additionally, Jill provides comprehensive estate planning for middle income clientele, offering affordable packages including financial and medical powers of attorneys, wills, trusts, advanced directives and burial instructions. Jill can tailor any estate plan to fit your individual needs, and the needs of your family. Jill also offers free initial consultations, as well as in-home consultations and estate plan executions for those with mobility issues. Jill charges a flat fee for all estate documents other than complex trusts so that you can prepare for this expense with no surprises later.

Finally, Jill helps small businesses and large corporations navigate both simple and complex business disputes, as well as assisting with business formation. Among other contract preparation and review, Jill negotiates leases, purchase agreements, and helps construction clients re-write contracts with owners and subcontractors to ensure maximum protection under the law in the event of construction disputes. Jill and can also help you ensure compliance with the Colorado Secretary of State’s requirements for your business entity type, help you will all filings and documents, and can assist with Operating Agreements and Bylaws for more complex legal entities.

Firm Service/History

Jill is a born advocate, which is why her mom told her when she was a young girl that she would probably grow up to be an attorney. After graduating from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, and teaching English to high school seniors, she started law school at the University of Kansas, during which she received a top notch legal education while staying true to her commitment to public service. Jill volunteered for the Douglas County Legal Aid Society and the Douglas County Adult Protective Services during her law school education, and went on to clerk for Legal Aid.

Jill joined, and became a partner of CCRJ in 2014.Along with her partners Dan Coombe and Gregg Rich, Jill is responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm and mentoring associate attorneys. Jill is committed to ensuring that the firm provides the highest quality legal representation to its clients while offering a positive work environment for the CCRJ team. She is proud of the firm’s positive atmosphere and the unbelievable talent that the firm has acquired over the years, of which she has had an integral role in recruiting.

When Jill is not working, she is enjoying the Colorado mountains, traveling, and trying to improve her acoustic guitar skills.

Professional Activities

Jill is licensed to practice law in Colorado, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the Colorado Supreme Court.

Her professional affiliations also include The Claims and Litigation Management (CLM) Alliance, The Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA), the Colorado Bar Association (CBA), the Denver Bar Association (DBA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Colorado Women’s Bar Association (CWBA).

Jill’s commitment to public service has continued throughout her legal career. She has been a Metro Volunteer Lawyer pro bono attorney since she started practicing law in Colorado, which provides assistance to Colorado Legal Services, and gave her time to the Rape Awareness and Prevention Program for several years.
